Oregon District Chapters: Address of the Worthy Grand Matron: Feeling the work of the Order from various causes had been somewhat retarded during the past year, I felt the necessity of action on my part. I conceived the idea of dividing this jurisdiction into district, and at the most central point holding a “district chapter” as we termed it. The purpose to cultivate a more fraternal feeling by thus coming together and to promote the welfare and the interest of the Order throughout the state. I requested the Grand Secretary to issue a circular letter, a copy of which was sent to each Chapter. I also conferred with the Grand Officers asking them to be present at as many places as possible to which invitation nearly all responded heartily. I wish to thank the chapters who so willingly entertained the several chapters in their respective districts, at my request. I feel that all who attended these meetings derived the benefit for which they were originated. On Wednesday evening Racine Chapter exemplified the conferring of degrees. “with an accuracy of Ritual, a perfection of detail in the ceremonies and an impressiveness of manner which received general commendation from the large assemblage of Sisters and Brothers present. This was especially gratifying to the workers as the attendance was largely made up of Worthy Matrons and Patrons of the several Chapters in the state who were familiar with the Ritual and therefore discriminating critics.” Following the work a social hour was enjoyed. Several pleasant addresses were made and the evening was in all respects a most happy occasion.
