The Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Wisconsin assembled in fifth annual meeting in Egyptian Hall, in the City of Milwaukee on Wednesday, February 20, 1895, and was opened with the full ceremonial of the Order by the following:
Associate Grand Matron, Sister Martha Ross: It seems to me eminently fitting that this beautiful hall with its oriental decorations carrying the mind back as it does to the mysteries and antiquities of the Far East should have become the yearly meeting place of our Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star…As year by year we assemble in this place we rejoice in the steady increase in our numbers and although we should most sincerely regret to leave these artistic and beautiful surroundings, yet if our order continues to prosper and increase in the future as it has done in the past it seems probable that the day is not far distant when even this spacious hall will become too narrow for our accommodation…. Address of the Worthy Grand Matron: I have also attended all of the District Chapters, except No. 3 …..I have in every instance found a marked improvement in the work throughout the state. ….District Chapter No. 6 was postponed until January 30th at which time it was held at New Richmond. The work was beautifully exemplified and the visitors royally entertained. Resolved: That the Worthy Grand Matron, the retiring Worthy Grand Matron and the Grand Patron be appointed a committee to purchase a suitable set of jewels for our Grand Officers.
