The ninth annual meeting of the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of the State of Wisconsin was opened in due form in the Masonic Building in the City of Milwaukee at 2 o’clock on Wednesday, February 22, 1899.

Constituting:

Star of Bethlehem Chapter No. 100 located at Portage was constituted March 2nd.

WGM’s Advice:

As I have been from one chapter to another, this question has often been asked me, “What shall we do to keep up the interest and get the members out?” My Sisters and Brothers, find work do. If your chapter rooms are fully equipped, if there is no one within your Masonic Circle needing your attention, then find something else to do, someone else to help and thus carry out the great teaching of the “Brotherhood of Man”. Another plan may be carried out to raise a fund that some day may be used to help furnish a Masonic Home in this state.

The General Grand Chapter was convened in Washington D. C, the morning of September 27th.

District Conventions:

With the above assistance of the Worthy Grand Patron, I redistricted the state, making fifteen conventions and from our original plan I had only to change two of them. All of these meetings have been conducted in a most creditable manner and I feel have been productive of much good. As regards the banquets served on these occasions, I would suggest that less attention be given to this part of our conventions so they may not become a burden.

Experience is a good teacher and I would suggest that the incoming Grand Matron arrange for more conventions, say twenty or twenty-five, then the smallest chapter can entertain, the meetings may be made veritable schools of instruction.

Fire:

Oregon Chapter No. 49, Oregon, suffered severe losses by fire.

Worthy Grand Patron:

I granted a dispensation for a chapter at Burlington. I also granted a dispensation for a chapter at Chippewa Falls.

The Vocal Star:

The Sisters of Bloomington Chapter were then given possession of the floor and in a most impressive and entertaining manner exemplified the ceremonial and ritualistic work of the addenda known as the Vocal Star. The marches, the musical features and the rendition of the ritual by the officers of Bloomington Chapter received high commendation from all who were privileged to witness the ceremony.
