The twelfth annual session of the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star convened in the Masonic building in the city of Milwaukee, Wednesday, February 19 at 2:30 p.m.

The Grand Chapter was opened in due form by the Worthy Grand Matron and prayer by the Grand Chaplain.

Worthy Grand Matron:

During this year our beloved President William McKinley was also stricken down and the nation shrouded in sorrow. He was a good man, a good husband, a good father and a good Mason and as such we mourn him.

Official Acts:

I appointed deputies to constitute the U.D. chapters and install their officers:

March 13th Marathon Chapter No. 123 at Wausau. March 5th I had the pleasure of constituting Martha Washington Chapter No. 124 at Green Bay.

The report for the appointment of eight Grand Instructors was reconsidered and the report laid over until next year. Thus, the instruction and visiting of chapters is left to the discretion of the Grand Matron as before and chapters will be notified of her pleasure in the matter in due time.

General Grand Chapter:

The tenth tri-ennial session of the General Grand Chapter was held in Detroit, Michigan on September 24, 25, 26 and 27, 1901.

Conventions:

As the conventions were left to the discretion of the Grand Matron, after conferring with the Grand Patron, and with his assistance we divided the state into sixteen districts. We were unable to locate a convention for districts 14 and 16. Therefore fourteen conventions were held. It was my pleasure to be present at all of these and the financial condition of the treasurers will testify to that part of the success, while the social part was equally gratifying. However, I believe the time has come when Wisconsin should take a step forward in this line and follow the example of some of her older sister jurisdictions in establishing schools of instruction instead of conventions and have a grand lecturer for this work.

Resolution:

That ballot boxes be prepared with black cubes instead of black balls and that said cubes be the legal ballot.

Worthy Grand Patron:

Have you had a kindness done?
Pass it on
Twas not meant for you alone
Pass it on
Let it dry another’s tears
Start it down the course of years
Till in heaven the deed appears
Pass it on.

Home:

The Committee had the pleasure of accepting from Electa Chapter No. 75 a complete set of Encyclopedia Britannica as the foundation for a library for our prospective Home.

Wednesday Evening:

The chapter was filled to overflowing by members and delegates to Grand Chapter assembled to witness the exemplification of the ritualistic work by the officers of the Grand Chapter. After a short intermission, remarks were made by several distinguished visitors. Altogether it was a most enjoyable evening.
