The thirteenth annual session of the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star convened in the Masonic building, Milwaukee, February 18th at 2:30 o’clock p.m. Life has often been likened to the climbing of a steep and rugged path beset by dangers and difficulties on every side. We are told that the mountain climbers of the Alps bind themselves together with strong ropes, not that he who slips may bear the others down, but that the others having a surer footing may hold the unfortunate brother up. Thus our beautiful Order bears up the unfortunate. Worthy Grand Matron: I have made 145 official visits. Total number of chapters visited 133. I have traveled 10,643 miles by rail and nearly 400 miles by carriage and stage. I would here impress upon my successors in office the benefit of annual official visits by some one of the Grand Officers. The small, weak chapters visited not in a spirit of criticism but with words of encouragement, take new life, feeling they are not forgotten. Recommendations:
That the proceedings be indexed.
I bring the sheaves I’ve gathered in Worthy Grand Patron: During the first part of last March I had the very great pleasure of attending a reception given in honor of our Worthy Grand Matron by Kinnickinnic Chapter of River Falls, her home chapter. Grand Secretary: Rainbow chapter, No. 87, Wisconsin Rapids initiated 33 new members and Loyalty, No. 18, Plymouth initiated 21 new members. The largest chapter is Milwaukee No. 2 and the second is Baraboo No. 21 with 227 members.
