Grand Matron:

Strenuous appeals are being made to ignorance, discontent and unrest. The world has never known a greater need for action promulgated by unselfish, honest, intelligent effort to promote the right, to meet the wrong. True Fraternalism has never had a greater call to action, for cooperation with all sane elements of society to stabilize the world to construct and re-construct society and social institutions.

The great Masonic Order, the Order of the Eastern Star, their officers and leaders with others see and understand that there is an imminent work ahead to create everywhere the true spirit of brotherhood, to encourage common honesty among men. If our Order is not doing its full share in this work, it has no excuse for existence, no reason for taking up time and energy. “We live in deeds not years”

On Sept. 10 I deputized J. E. Florin to assist Grand Lecturer in grouping OES chapters for OES Convention work.

October 22, Wauwatosta Chapter No. 219 was constituted.

February 13, Viroqua Chapter reported loss of their chapter by fire together with nearly all of their equipment.

A dispensation was granted to elect and install officers out of time because of a coal shortage.

I have inspected the work in 80 chapters, constituted 5 charters and taken an active part in 6 OES Conventions representing over 30 chapters.

WGM attended Grand Chapter of Minnesota.

From my observation, I am convinced that one of the very best and most efficient mediums for inspiration in Eastern Star work and instruction in ritualistic and other work is the convention system…It is my observation that the plan carried out this year, of outlining the work to be called for at the conventions with the notice that any officer or set of officers from any chapter may be called upon without notice for any portion of the work, necessarily requires all officers from every chapter to be reasonably well prepared on all Eastern Star work, and not prepared on a designated portion only…I strongly recommend that the convention system as a school of instruction and inspiration be given a continued important place in the activities of our order.

Grand Patron:

On May 20th I instituted a chapter at Kewaunee. Pursuant to my invitation, Algoma Chapter assisted in the work. The chapter has been holding practice meetings twice a week for the last three weeks. I am therefore satisfied that they are deserving of a charter and I so recommend.

It was impossible to district the state so that it would be convenient for all parties the first or even the second year; but, after more experience, compact districts may be formed which will improve traveling, facilities and secure larger attendance.

Grand Lecturer:

Three conventions were held in November; eight were held in December, three were held in January, two were held in February and the remainder scheduled were cancelled due to an influenza epidemic. Eight conventions were held in May, 13 in June and one in September.

Masonic Home:

$699.95 Several chapters have pledged themselves to furnish rooms either in the Home or Hospital.

228 chapters (10 U.D.)
30,268 Members

The chapter having the largest net gain is Electa with a gain of 139.
