Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tuesday, October 3, 1922. The Thirty-second annual session convened on Tuesday, the third day of October 1922 at two o’clock. Brother Ray Gile, Worthy Patron of Merrillan Chapter No. 160 gave a beautiful tribute to the Flag. Sister Mabel Beck, Worthy Matron of Golden Rule Chapter No. 194 of Milwaukee gave the address of welcome. We are here to review the wonderful achievements of the past, the brilliant successes of the present, and the unlimited possibilities for the future of the Order of the Eastern Star. Grand Matron: Frederic Chapter at Frederic, was duly constituted on October 27 by Past Grand Matron Ella Spring Smith. On May 31, Wautoma Chapter No. 193 located at Wautoma reported a loss by fire. Most Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Ellie Lines Chapin sent a booklet requesting help for 25,000 children no longer fed, clothed and sheltered through the Near East Relief. A letter sent the booklet on to all subordinate chapters. $1,353 was collected and forwarded to the Most Worthy Grand Matron. No greater pleasure has been mine this year than to have been present at the laying of the corner stone of the Masonic Home at Dousman. The program was most impressive and inspiring. The caring for the widow and orphan is a noble work of highest Christian type and worthy of our strongest commendation and encouragement. It is with great satisfaction that I announce to you the organization of the following new Grand Chapters: Grand Chapter of Delaware at Wilmington, Delaware, November 14, 1921. Grand Chapter of Manitoba at Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba, June 22, 1922. Grand Chapter of Quebec, at Sherbrooke, Province of Quebec, July 6, 1922. Recommendations: That all monies collected in sunshine funds be received by the Secretary and paid to the Treasurer. In this way only can a chapter have a proper record of all its receipts and expenditures. Approved. That some plan be adopted whereby each subordinate chapter may be visited once a year by either the Grand Lecturer or other Grand Officers. Approved. The chapter too often missed is the small chapter in some town out of touch with a railroad. It has been my privilege to make forty visitations and I am glad to report that most chapters visited are doing splendid work and the Order steadily growing in interest as well as members. I attended the twenty-fifth anniversary of Star of Bethlehem Chapter No. 100. It is my pleasure to commend the Masonic Tidings and to express our sincere thanks for favors extended during the past year. I suggest that each chapter subscribe for this excellent journal. A bid was put out to build the Masonic/Eastern Star hospital at Dousman. The low bid was $80,000 and the fund at the time held $56,000 so no bids were accepted. A resolution was made and adopted for a special assessment to all members of 50 cents for the hospital fund. Grand Lecturer: Because of the demand for the use of Masonic Halls by the various Masonic bodies, it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain special meetings. To visit a chapter only on regular meeting nights requires much time, strength and travel. Sixty-six visits were made and full instruction given.
