2:00 P.M. Past Grand Matrons and Past Grand Patrons enter, taking positions on the north and south side of Chapter room respectively, Worthy Matrons of Milwaukee County enter from the North entrance while Worthy Patrons enter from South entrance, each carrying a yellow chrysanthemum, marching and counter marching, singing “Another Year”. Singing “You Have Been Our Inspiration,” forming an arch of yellow chrysanthemums through which the Grand Matron and Grand Patron were conducted to their stations in the East. The Flag was presented by the Milwaukee drill team. Grand Matron: To my own chapter, Kenosha Chapter No. 92, I owe so much—your helpful words, deeds and thoughts have been to me my greatest inspiration throughout my year. The wonderful reception and dinner-dance at our own Temple in Kenosha on October 28, 1926, to which nearly all my Grand family came is one of the bright spots in my memory book. On May 2, received a telegram from Louisiana regarding flood relief in New Orleans. $1,000 was sent from the Wisconsin Grand Chapter. I have visited 157 chapters in this jurisdiction including 11 chapters in which I have been the installing officer. I have attended the Grand Chapters of Minnesota and Montana. On March 2, 1927 we visited the largest chapter in Cincinnati, Violet Chapter No. 45 and witnessed the initiation ceremonies and enjoyed a social evening. January 15, 1927, instituted New Holstein Chapter. Grand Patron: As I have gone forward during the year with the duties allotted, I have had only the welfare of this wonderful organization of the Eastern Star always before me and in all my action and decisions I have endeavored to guide myself by the wonderful teachings taught us in the beautiful work of this Order. I had the pleasure of acting as Worthy Patron on the occasion of my visit at Mauston Chapter and helped confer the degrees upon one who had been a friend of our family for many years. Shortly after my election and installation as Grand Patron, my home chapter, Baraboo gave a reception in my honor, as also did my old home chapter, Queen Esther at Lodi where I received my degrees. These occasions will long be remembered by me and cherished as the bright spots in my year as Grand Patron. I also attended Grand Officers’ Night at Kenosha; the Grand Officers filled their respective stations with your Grand Patron acting as Worthy Patron during the initiatory work. Tuesday evening after the banquet Sister Ruth A. Powell, Grand Guardian was invited to the East and spoke about the organization of Job’s Daughters. $1,483.86 was given to the flood sufferers in the lower Mississippi Valley by the chapters. Grand Lecturer: I am pleased to report the following visitations: official inspections, 141; installations 5; special visits, 5; social visits, 10. A total of 161 visits. Masonic Home: two bookcases, two clocks, an extra table and four chairs for the dining room, two ferneries, covers of cushions for couches and chairs of sun parlors. New cement walks have been made around the farm house, shrubbery planted, a new west porch built. The grove just south and west of the Hospital was cleared, trees trimmed, tables and benches placed about, and made into a veritable pleasure ground where members of nearby chapters have enjoyed several picnics during the past season. The Wisconsin Consistory Band held a concert and picnic at the Home in honor of Mr. Willard Van Brunt’s birthday. It was a very enjoyable occasion and we understand will be an annual event in honor and remembrance of the donor of the Masonic Home property. Chapters donated preserves, rugs, towels, picture, crate of grapefruit, crate of oranges, candies, 3 foot stools, two writing desks and chairs, Easter eggs, Victrola and records, entertainment and $2,483.25.
