1928 Grand Family

Worthy Matrons of Milwaukee County enter from North entrance, while Worthy Patrons enter from South entrance, each carrying alternately a white and yellow chrysanthemum, marching and counter marching singing “Onward Christian Soldiers” forming an arch with the chrysanthemums through which the Grand Matron and Grand Patron were conducted to their stations in the East.

Grand Matron

“I shall not pass this way again,
but far beyond earth’s where and when,
May I look back along a road
Where on both sides good seed I sowed.

I shall not pass this way again,
May wisdom guide my tongue and pen
And love be mine so that I may
Spread roses all along the way.

I shall not pass this way again,
May I be honorable to men,
Faithful to friends, true to my God,
A fragrance on the path I trod.”

One year ago we saw the Order of Jobs Daughters so beautifully exemplified. During this year one of our Sisters asked if there might be a chance for the Order of Rainbow Girls of Stevens Point to show us their work, we will witness an exemplification of that this evening.

It was brought to my attention that one of our Sisters now living in Denver, Colorado was in need of assistance and material aid was sent this Sister during the winter months.

I was present at the institution of the following Chapters:

Acadia Chapter, January 18, 1928
Charles A. Lawton Chapter, February 14, 1928
I am pleased to report that I have made personal visits to 117 chapters.

Visits:

Grand Chapters of Illinois and Minnesota

Nineteenth Triennial Assembly of the General Grand Chapter in Denver, Colorado, July 22-26. The office of Associate Patron for subordinate chapters was created.

In 1928 it was recommended and approved that the uniform length of the staffs be five feet six inches

Grand Patron:

Acadia Chapter is my largest family, beginning with 439 Sisters and Brothers and now having a total of 487. Thirteen Grand Officers attended this institution in McKinley Temple on January 18, 1928.

Charles A. Lawton is my “Valentine” Chapter instituted at De Pere on the evening of February 14, 1928. Every chair in the cozy Chapter room was filled. The chapter was named after the father of the first Worthy Matron, Sister Ellen Lawton Wilson.

Recommendation:

Create a new standing committee to be known as the Committee on Uniform Instructions. The need of such a committee is apparent. (Jurisprudence moved it be a special committee and it should report at the next Grand Chapter and its report be voted on then). Approved.

259 chartered Chapters and seven under dispensation.
Number of Members: 50,489
