2:00 P.M. Worthy Matrons of Milwaukee County entered from the north and Worthy Patrons from the south, carrying yellow chrysanthemums. They formed an archway on each side of the altar through which Grand Officers passed. Worthy Grand Matron:
“The kind of a Grand Session we wish for you is one that is made of dreams come true; Regardless of all that is being said about the pleasure-seeking world, there are many men and women today who are not willing to give their time to passing enjoyment. True, they want social life, but with it they crave human contact which is colored with a purpose, an inspiration—something permanent and which affords a real purpose for living. The Order of the Eastern Star has a definite place in the spiritual and cultural life, and I believe this is proven by the sincerity and earnestness of hundreds of officers and members of Wisconsin. My visit to the Minnesota Grand Chapter was most inspiring and gave me new enthusiasm for the remainder of the weeks ahead. On May 11 it was my privilege to respond to an invitation to attend the dedication of the new temple at Sheboygan. I was able to accept one other invitation outside our own jurisdiction, that being a visit to Majestic Chapter, Chicago, where Acadia Chapter conferred the degrees, and that too was a most delightful night. October 22, 1928 constituted Acadia Chapter No. 269. October 24, 1928 constituted Charles A. Lawton Chapter No. 270. The list of visits includes six constitutions, eleven installations, nine social and five investigation visits, the balance inspection, making a total of one hundred visits. I do not know where falls the seed that I have tried to sow with care, But yet I hope each seed for good will bring forth fruit sometime, somewhere. Tuesday night: all Grand Officers, members and visitors gathered in the dining room at 6:00 P.M. for the annual banquet. Assembly singing was led by Brother George Otto. At 8 P.M. Marathon Chapter exemplified the opening of a subordinate chapter under the new ritual, including the presentation of the Flag, introduction of visitors, examination of visitors, balloting and closing. Questions from the floor and answers by the Grand Lecturer followed. Grand Patron: Another event long to be remembered by me was the party my home chapter (Marathon) gave in honor of the Grand Patron, October 29th. I wish to record my thanks for and appreciation of their kindness. I also wish to thank all the Grands and Past Grands who came to Wausau at that time. Grand Lecturer: We live a life in which none of us liveth to himself but in which the fate of each is interwoven with the common fate of all and around our altar we learn the lessons that fit us for association with our fellow men. While we aim for uniformity and perfection of ritualistic and floor work we are not unmindful that “ceremonies die but principles live.” The GL visited 88 chapters. Masonic Home: New curtains had been provided for all Hospital bedrooms and sufficient rugs for bedrooms not supplied last year. The sun room furniture repainted, cushions of couches and chairs recovered. Free will offering of $1,889.90. Chapters donated preserves, entertainment, books, apples, pillow cases and hand towels, magazines, robes, magazine subscriptions, jellies, candy, housekeeping supplies, comforter, stationery, case of oranges.
227 Chapters Golden Rule had the largest gain, 110. |
