The auditorium was filled with music. Suddenly the house lights darkened and a voice was heard to say, “And it came to pass, ages ago, when God had created the Heavens and the Earth, God placed His first children in His Garden called Eden.” The curtains in the East had slowly opened and there in a sunlit garden were Adam and Eve.
Solo: “Star of God” Just as the sun rises in the East, God sheds His light of truth from the East and to the East again we now look for inspiration. Once again the curtains parted to reveal in the Garden a white robed figure, seated holding the Bible, two figures, one on either side holding lighted crosses.
From the North and South at the foot of the stage, members of several clubs entered to form a large cross between the Altar and the East. Those outlining the cross carried lighted crosses and from each of the four corners of the room, two more robed figures, carrying lighted crosses entered to kneel in prayer around the Altar. The soloist sang “The Lord’s Prayer”.
The three figures left the Garden in the East followed the outline of the cross to the altar, placing the Bible thereon. Soloist: “In the Cross of Christ I Glory”. Those forming the large cross shifted position to form the three crosses of the Crucifixion. Those who carried the lighted crosses were the base of this formation. As all participants left the Chapter room, the reader was heard to say:
“Today in despair we bow our head,
Then peals the bells more loud and deep,
We hope and pray the day will come,
Till ringing, singing on its way; The chimes of the organ rang out, and the house lights brightened. The Grand Trustees request a committee to select and purchase drapes for the new wing at the hospital at the Masonic Home at Dousman. The dedication service for the new wing of the Hospital at Dousman is planned for Sunday, October 5 at 2:30 o’clock. It has been thirteen years since a new chapter was constituted in the state of Wisconsin and it was …a highlight of my year…to officiate at the constituting of Haven Chapter No. 279 on November 3, 1951. We have been encouraged with the response from Chapters on the contributions to the Breezeway Fund. It has the approval of the Masonic Home Board….it will be a project we will continue for several years until enough money is contributed to complete the building.
