The opening prologue was a play entitled “Legends of Trees”, the cottonwood with its five pointed star core, the fir Christmas tree, and the flowering Dogwood from which came the Cross of Christ. When the house lights had brightened, the full beauty of the East was seen. A sparkling waterfall amid the pines of the Northwoods of Wisconsin, the blue sky overhead and the Indian accent discoverable in the scattered drums, headdress and symbols among the trees transformed the auditorium into a Green Cathedral. The Labyrinth floor was carpeted in white, and yellow roses twined around each gateway in the white picket fence that enclosed it. Huge baskets of bronze and golden mums, oak leaves and green and gold ribbon bows added their beautiful color to the scene. Worthy Grand Matron: It was most gratifying to find every chapter cooperating fully to incorporate the changes made at our last Grand Session and to find so much good being accomplished in each chapter. It was a joy to greet the many members at our meetings throughout the year and to be welcomed so cordially by you. I conducted 17 Schools of Instruction and through these schools was able to work in close association with the corps of officers of 77 subordinate chapters. I had 59 official visits. The Christmas party this year was a simulated “Indian Pow-Wow”. I attended Illinois Grand Chapter. November 9, a special evening in St. Omar Chapter, Monroe, honoring distinguished guests from Missouri Grand Jurisdiction. March 19-26, attended the Louisiana Grand Chapter at Shreveport. May 5-7, General Grand Mid-Triennial Assembly in Washington. After my return, I attended Minnesota Grand Session. August 18, attended Montana Grand Chapter. August 25, attended Wyoming Grand Session. On August 26, I attended the inspiring “Passion Play” in Spearfish, South Dakota. Worthy Grand Patron: The many pleasant hours I have spent with you in your chapter rooms have been etched with beauty in my memory like a painting in the sands of time. The blue of Friend’s Nights, combined with the gold of anniversaries merged into soft greens depicting the many receptions held in honor of officers and leaders. The special programs sketched in shades of red denote love and devotion, while the picture as a whole highlighted with pure white shines with the perfectness of Official Visits and schools of Instruction. On June 10th, Oriental Chapter, Oshkosh, complimented me with a very lovely party and reception. Cheer: purchased two much-needed lifts for the Masonic Home. Draperies have been ordered for four lounges. Also programs, birthday party 3 times a year, supper for guests, Christmas Party, pictures and cakes for 50th wedding anniversary, entertainments, picnic suppers, candy, monthly movies, electric coffee makers, magazines, sheets and pillow cases, honey, aprons, napkins, potholders, Thanksgiving favors, jellies, jams, Christmas seals, Christmas table favors, dish towels, afghan, cookies, Mothers Day Candy and flowers, supplies for chiropodist, dresser scarves. $75.00 for Shriner’s Hospitals. $15.00 for Blood Bank and $40 for overseas relief. $458.96 for Cancer Research. 59,784 Members |
